Coffee Crossroads is committed to being the best online destination for interesting and educational information about the world of coffee — with some fun thrown in. If you are a coffee drinker, this site is for you, especially if you are one of the millions of people who love coffee but may not have thought much about it.
Coffee is the most popular beverage in the world after water. In the United States, 100 million people, more than half of the population over 18, drink coffee every day. And the U.S. does not even make the list of the top 20 countries in per capita coffee consumption. It has been estimated that over 500 billion cups of coffee are consumed worldwide every year.
Many people say they need coffee in the morning to start their day. Or they just want coffee to start their day. Or to finish their day. Or anywhere in between.
I am one of those people, and odds are, you are too. I started drinking coffee in college and I’ve had multiple cups a day pretty much every day since. I’m not a coffee professional and not really a “coffee snob” either, but I have a love for coffee that has made me curious about all things coffee-related:
- the many varieties of coffee and coffee drinks
- how to make great coffee
- how coffee affects our health
- how the coffee business works, from grower to cup
- the history of coffee
- coffee in culture and the arts
- and anything else that relates to coffee
If you share my curiosity, this website will inform you, educate you, and maybe entertain you. There are lots of other websites about coffee, and other available coffee resources, and I won’t hesitate to recommend the best of them. But I hope you’ll continue to visit Coffee Crossroads and explore the world of coffee with me. Thanks!

This website is dedicated to my late grandfather, Adrian (Andrew) Lokker, the only coffee professional in the family. During the Great Depression, Grandpop operated a small coffee and tea business out of his cellar in Prospect Park, New Jersey.
